Impressive antique French mahogany Empire style bibliotheque, armoire, bookcase, standing on gilt bronze paw feet and embellished in classical mounts with caryatids at the tops of the columns. The side doors are mounted with ribboned torches and the bottom of the centre door with a gilt bronze wreath below the original brass mesh door. This is showing its age but is still a beautiful piece. The mahogany finish is fairly dull and not shiny as it once would have been and one side is patchy as shown. There are some knocks and dents. This could be restored if this was of concern. The bottom panel of the centre door is rather wavy and warped as we have tried to show in a photo. (This can be seen in a certain light). It has three adjustable height shelves and two locking keys. The interior base of the cabinet was replaced with plywood at some stage. The back is somewhat ill fitting with a few gaps which is not noticeable from the outside. We do try to mention all flaws as we find them. We have priced this piece accordingly to allow for restoration if desired.
SIZE approx: 73cm high x 31cm wide x 22cm deep
