A magnificent pair of tall and elegant antique French Renaissance style candelabra. Comprising of spelter with porcelain inserts and gilt or bronze decorations of heads and garlands on each of the three sides and gilt or bronze joiners between the spelter columns. This pair would date to at least the early 19th century and were found near Paris. The dark and ornate spelter with floral elements against the white porcelain makes quite a statement. One of the candle wax drip catchers (bobeches) is not matching and another is broken around the edge of one side. One candelabra has a slight lean at certain angles and some of the candle cup holders are crooked which is very usual with candelabra of this age. This is all mentioned for accuracy reasons and we feel it is all part of the history of this very beautiful pair and does not detract. From the top to the bottom of the beautiful feet, and the ornate decorations add to the wonderful elegance this pair would bring to a fireplace overmantel - large table or sideboard. The pair weigh 5.27kgs. (Candles not included)
SIZE approx: 52cm all x Base 16cm diameter
