This is an extremely old and rustic antique French trancheuse or bread slicer which would have been used in a French bakery. These work well for crusty loaves and heavier bread. There are long gone borer holes in the wood (which is of no concern as all our items are treated by Government regulation upon arrival from France). The handle has some corrosion which does not affect this. The bread slicer is a handy kitchen item with a v-shaped wooden rest for a loaf of bread, and an arm with a specially designed blade for effectively slicing uniform slices from even the toughest loaves. The operation is simple because the machine is made of solid cast iron with a sharp blade, and even better, there's no need to get your fingers anywhere in the way of the slicing operation.
SIZE approx: 39cm long (excluding handle) x 33.5cm wide (excluding handle) x 31cm high
