A Rare Antique French Heavily Carved Armoire from Normandie Early 1800’s - D112
A rare antique French armoire from Normandy dating to early 19th century which has an exquisite rich & warm oak patina. This is a fine example of the master craftsmanship from the provinces of France. There are spectacular full relief hand carvings of a face and bunches of flowers. There are also carvings of grapes and grape leaves and an urn. The haute relief panelled doors are also amazing. The centre stile is attached to the left door so when both doors are opened it presents an unobstructed view of the interior (and needed if to be used as a television cabinet). The locking key for the doors is in place and there is a key in the inside drawer not locking but to be used as a pull. Due to the age of this piece there are a few separations in the timber (mentioned for accuracy reasons), a missing piece of trim from the top left corner as shown, and the back foot and back have a few minor long gone borer holes (which is of no consequence as all our pieces are treated by government regulation upon arrival from France). This does not affect the structural integrity in any way.
