Armoires & Cabinets
Antique French armoires have so many uses apart from only hanging clothing in a bedroom. With shelving they act as the most wonderful storage for a myriad of homewares including linen and towels. A large bathroom with an antique French armoire is a beautiful sight. A French styled kitchen could use an armoire to house dinnerware and kitchenalia, and using an armoire as a pantry in the kitchen works so well. Why style a beautiful living or family room and have a television on show to completely spoil the decor? Hide it inside an antique French armoire and open the doors when in use. Or maybe even an armoire used as an entrance to another room like Narnia. There are many styles of antique French armoires including, Breton style hand carved armoires and bonnetieres, Louis Phillip style armoires and the most amazing superb Louis style wedding armoires, often carved by the bride's father and gifted to a daughter with her wedding "trousseau". Larger than many armoires, the "armoire de mariage" features carved motifs of wealth, prosperity and love (often represented by "love birds") to represent good wishes for the newly married bride and groom.
