Antique Spanish Rustic Style Oak Armoire Cabinet Cupboard - C224

A wonderfully characterful antique Spanish rustic armoire, featuring impressive architectural doors with original-style ironwork and a beautifully aged, timeworn finish.

The cabinet has a particularly striking presence, with its pair of heavily constructed timber doors framed by contrasting timber panels. The doors feature decorative carved detailing, applied iron straps and studs, large traditional ring handles and a wonderful chain and iron latch across the centre.

Rich variations in the timber, old marks, wear and patination give the piece the wonderfully authentic appearance that is so desirable in antique Spanish and Mediterranean interiors. Rather than being overly refined, its beauty lies in its age, texture and rustic character.

The substantial moulded cornice and simple plinth base provide a pleasing architectural frame to the more primitive doors, creating an unusual piece that works equally well in a traditional home or as a statement piece within a contemporary interior.

With its strong proportions and remarkable decorative doors, this is an armoire that could provide both practical storage and a dramatic focal point in a living room, dining room, hallway or bedroom.

This armoire was found in France. We are guessing that this was custom-made out of several old pieces at some stage. Part of the back has been cut out most likely to house audio equipment or a television. The photos should help describe this. It is quite a deep and solid piece and could be re-purposed for many other uses. We have priced this well. This would make quite a rustic decor piece.
