A rare early18th century antique French walnut pulpit (pupitre) cupboard which is heavily and exquisitely carved. Among the many carvings is a central scene of Jesus being comforted by an angel after the crucifixion while another heavenly angel holds a cross and the holy Grail. There is a lift up book rest with a storage space underneath and a large storage space with one fixed height shelf behind the bottom door. There is a lock but there is no key. It has dowel construction and old borer holes (which are of no concern as this is usual with genuine French antiques and all our items are treated by government regulation upon arrival from France so they are free of all pests). There is a crack it the central carved panel as shown which is only mentioned for accuracy reasons. A truly magnificent piece.

SIZE approx: 179 cm high, 71 cm, wide 46 cm deep - - top sloping storage space 63.5 cm wide, 35 cm deep - - bottom storage space 65 cm high, 35 cm deep, 29 high top shelf, 29.5 cm bottom (replaced at some stage) shelf.
