An Antique French Louis XVI Style Painted Fauteuil Armchair - G065
A charming and sturdy (albeit well used and needing a clean) antique French Louis XVI style painted (paint chippy) armchair (fauteuil), featuring original tapestry upholstery and a beautifully shaped off white frame with floral carvings and worn gilt accents. The oval padded backrest, seat, and armrests are upholstered in an elegant needlepoint floral tapestry, showcasing romantic bouquets. The frame features hand-carved floral motifs, fluted legs, rosettes on the corners, and is painted in a creamy white finish that shows some wear from age with very chippy paint which could also do with a clean or re-paint. The upholstery also needs a clean. The subtle distressing of the painted timber adds to its authentic antique charm, while the shapely form and sturdy construction remain timeless and practical. This armchair would work beautifully as a feature or occasional chair, especially in a bedroom, hallway, or refined living area. We have listed this at a low price to allow for cleaning and/or re-painting.
