A nineteenth century antique French duck press made from wood, iron and ceramic. This press dates from c.1880. It is marked “J G” on the ceramic pot. Duck presses were made for the preparation of a dish “Canard a la Presse” or pressed duck which was prepared at the table. It is a complex dish which originated in Rouen in the 19th century. In working condition with long gone borer (holes) which are of no concern as all our pieces are treated by government regulation. This is usual with pieces from France. The weight is 4kg.
