Antique French Provincial Oak Bonnetière Armoire – Mid 19th Century – G021

A charming and authentic Antique French Provincial oak bonnetière armoire,
crafted in the mid 19th century (circa 1850–1880). Traditionally used in rural
France for storing bonnets and linens, this tall, narrow piece now offers elegant
and versatile storage for modern interiors.

Made from solid oak, the cabinet features a single panelled door
with shaped mouldings and a carved shell crest — a nod to
Louis XV influence softened by provincial craftsmanship.
The arched cornice and scalloped apron rest on short cabriole feet,
creating a light and graceful silhouette.

The oak timber has a warm honeyed patina, with natural grain
movement and gentle colour variation that has developed beautifully with age.
The original iron hardware, including a traditional latch, pin hinges,
and five-hole escutcheon, remains intact and adds to its authenticity.

Inside, the cabinet offers excellent shelving capacity,
making it suitable for use as a linen press, wardrobe, drinks cabinet, or pantry.
Its narrow width and vertical format also make it ideal for hallways, bathrooms,
or spaces where elegant, compact storage is needed.

This piece presents in very good antique condition,
with only minor surface wear and signs of use, consistent with its age.
