A characterful and well-aged antique French coffer,
crafted from solid oak in the late 18th to early 19th century (circa 1780–1820),
featuring distinctive Gothic-style carvings and a warm timeworn patina.
This traditional storage chest displays four carved panels across the front,
each featuring hand-chiselled lozenge motifs with floral tracery.
The frieze above is enriched with scrolling vine and foliate carvings,
a decorative touch often found in early French furniture.
Built using traditional pegged construction, the coffer retains its original
framework and base mouldings. The timber has developed a deep, rich tone
with well-worn edges, surface marks, consistent with age and use.
Historically used for storing linens, blankets, or household items,
this versatile piece can now serve as a blanket box, bench seat,
coffee table, or end-of-bed trunk in contemporary interiors.
Presents in stable antique condition with wonderful wear
that contributes to its charm and authenticity.
