An Antique French Sideboard Cabinet with Geometric Carving – early 20th c – G020

A commanding and richly detailed French sideboard or cabinet,
dating to early 20th century,
crafted with strong
architectural and geometric influences.

Constructed from solid, dark-stained oak, this substantial piece
features bold lines, heavy proportions, and deeply carved panels.

The facade is composed of four cupboard doors,
each set with raised and recessed square and lozenge carvings,
creating a striking rhythm across the front.
These are complemented by original iron escutcheons and ring pulls,
which retain a worn, authentic patina consistent with 19th-century hardware.

Below the doors, four generous drawers provide additional storage,
each fitted with matching period ring pulls and forged backplates.

The wrought iron decoration underneath adds to the whole design.

The substantial oak top is slightly bevelled at the edge,
resting on a framed body with open sides and solid square legs.

The finish has aged to a deep, chocolate-toned patina,
with visible surface wear and oxidation that lend warmth
and textural authenticity to the piece.
Scuffs and aged edges are present, adding to its genuine antique character.

This is a rare and robust example of early 20h-century French furniture,
ideal for use in a dining room, wine cellar, hallway, or gallery space
with rustic, heritage, or Mediterranean styling.
