A rare and exceptional pair of antique French Henri II deux corps buffets,
crafted from solid oak in the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900).
Designed as near mirror images, these cabinets offer architectural symmetry
and classical French form, ideal for flanking a fireplace, anchoring a dining room,
or enhancing a formal hallway with impressive scale and refinement.
Each upper section features a glazed door with original bevelled glass,
framed by turned column supports and topped with a finely carved
pierced balustrade gallery (which is removable should it be preferred).
The lower section offers generous storage with a two drawers
over a pair of panelled cabinet doors. Botanical carvings, recessed side panels,
and moulded details enrich the surface, while a shaped plinth base grounds each piece.
Original brass escutcheons and handles complete the design.
Both cabinets display a warm, honeyed oak patina with natural grain variation
and surface depth developed beautifully over time. They present in excellent
antique condition with only minor marks in keeping with age and use.
Matched pairs of this calibre are increasingly difficult to find
and highly desirable for both residential and commercial interiors.
