Set of Four Antique French Empire Mahogany Gondola Dining Chairs - FRP08b

A rare and important set of four French 19th century Empire mahogany gondola side or dining chairs. Each chair is raised by elegant slightly curved square tapered legs. Above the straight frieze are richly carved scrolls at either side of the curved seat. The scrolls lead up to the most attractive curved back supports once again with scrolls. Very nice proportions and original rich and warm patina throughout. The chairs are solid with just one area of loss as shown in a photo. An easy set of chairs to re-cover.
