A rare set of eight 19th century, large, aged and weathered antique French quills or skittles for a bowling game. There would originally have been nine for playing the game of "Jeu de Quilles de Neuf' (nine pins) so one was lost along the way, but I'd be much more inclined to arrange these in a row just as objects anyway. There are lots of long gone old borer holes (which is of no concern as all our items are treated by Government regulations upon arrival from France). As the photos show there are many splits and wood damage but the delightful and elegant shape and collectivity of these quills makes them a wonderful decoration. One quill needs to lean against the wall to stand but could be levelled. There are two photos of each quill showing both sides of each. The splits could be filled with wood filler or left as is. We have priced accordingly.
