A stunning 1880s French earthenware walnut oil bottle with a lovely rotund shape and a beautiful subtle mat glaze.  This piece still has its old cloth and cork stopper intact which is amazing. Used to store valuable walnut oil these pots are extremely collectable and were entirely handmade. Each region of France has a slightly different design, shape and form to their locally made walnut oil vessels. For the perfect authentic French kitchen they look fabulous both on the floor or on a shelf or table. They could still be used to store oil. The handles show up fine cracks at the join in the photos but they are only where the handles were added before firing. The handles are fine.
