Vintage French Framed Watercolour “Palais Dario” by Anthime Mazeran – 1986

A beautiful original French watercolour by renowned French artist Anthime Mazeran (1907–1986) depicting the famous Palais Dario in Venice. Painted in 1986, the work captures the timeless charm of Venetian canals, bridges and historic architecture with the soft, atmospheric palette and loose impressionistic style for which Mazeran became known.

This authentic aquarelle remains accompanied by its original French Certificate of Authenticity together with the original Galerie Laetitia sales invoice dated 20th April 1986 (which has been laminated). The invoice records the purchase of the painting in Paris and provides exceptional provenance rarely retained with works of this period.

The composition portrays one of Venice's most recognisable waterways, leading the eye beneath a graceful stone bridge towards the distinctive Gothic façade of the Palazzo Dario. Delicate washes of colour and confident brushwork create a wonderfully light and evocative scene full of movement and atmosphere.
