A charming collection of five authentic French books dating from the late nineteenth century through to the mid-twentieth century, selected for their wonderful decorative appeal and classic French styling.
The collection includes works by well-known French and European authors including Pierre Benoit, Joseph Conrad, Paul-Louis Courier, L. Chambrun and Le Bourgeois, with a pleasing variety of bindings in leather, cloth and marbled paper boards.
The books display beautifully together with rich burgundy, brown and deep green bindings enhanced by gilt lettering and decorative tooling. Whether displayed on a coffee table, bookshelf, desk or within a French country interior, they add warmth, character and authenticity.
The interiors have not been examined in detail and the books are being sold primarily as decorative antique and vintage volumes, although they retain historical and literary interest.

Condition
Presented in overall good antique and vintage decorative condition.
As expected with books of this age there is wear consistent with use, including rubbing to the bindings, light scuffing, age toning and minor marks. One volume shows more noticeable wear to the spine and boards, adding to its authentic antique character.
