For sale is a rare, 17-volume vintage French book set by famed Jazz Age author Maurice Dekobra, published in Paris by Éditions Baudinière during the 1920s and 1930s. This beautifully matched collection features a uniform red half-leather binding with ornate gilt-embossed spines and stunning marbled endpapers, making it an exceptional choice for premium library shelf styling or Art Deco home decor. Crucially for collectors of period literature, six of the volumes successfully preserve the original, highly collectible Art Deco illustrated paper covers bound directly inside the hardcases, showcasing iconic 1930s cover art.”
Maurice Dekobra was one of the most wildly successful, sensationalist French travel/erotic fiction novelists of the 1920s and 1930s. Famous for his cosmopolitan thrillers like La Madone des Sleepings, his work defines the sensual, jet-setting vibe of the global Art Deco era. He is considered the grandfather of the modern international airport thriller novel.
A striking decorative and literary statement piece for a French library, study, boutique hotel or luxury interior (apart from being extremely collectable).

One book has a knock at the top as shown and photographs should help. As is typical with custom French hand-bindings of this era, there are slight, minor size variations in shelf height across the volumes due to original paperback margin trimming by the bookbinder.

The remaining titles have the text block commencing immediately from the title page. Shipping: Ships securely packed via Australia Post with full tracking.
